For Well Drillers
Well drillers working in snohomish county:
If you plan to conduct any well sealing or decommissioning work in Snohomish County for individual water supply wells, you must submit a notice to the Health Department at least 48 hours ahead of the scheduled work. This is to provide our staff with adequate notice so they can plan to be on site to conduct a well seal inspection.
DoEs the department of ecology still need a notice of intent?
Yes. The notice you provide to the Health Department is separate from the Notice of Intent that must be on file with the Department of Ecology.
How do I notify the health department?
All notices must be submitted through our online portal at least 48 hours ahead of the scheduled work. Submit your notice to the Health Department after the Notice of Intent has been filed with the Department of Ecology, as you will need to enter the Notice of Intent number.
1. Click the button below to access our online portal. You will need to login or create an account to use the online portal. (Need to create an account? When you click the button, click the green text that says “I want to register”. Enter your info and click “Register”. Verify your account, and then you can login.)
2. Navigate to the Drinking Water tab in the left-hand menu, and choose Well Seal/Decommissioning Notice.
3. Fill in the requested information and click submit.
What if the date of work changes?
Contact us immediately at 425-399-5250 or SHD-EHQ@snoco.org. Let us know if the work has been cancelled or rescheduled (if rescheduled, provide the new date and estimated time of well sealing).
Why do I need to submit a notice to the health department?
As part of an agreement with the Department of Ecology, Snohomish County Health Department has been delegated the authority to conduct well seal inspections in our county. This only applies to individual water supply wells. To conduct our inspections, we will need licensed well drillers in the area to inform us when work is scheduled. We appreciate your cooperation so that we can be present during your work for as many well seal inspections as possible!
For more information, see the provisions of the well tagging, sealing, and decommissioning components of Chapter 173-160 WAC.
