Looks forward to stronger partnerships, better access to public health services

The Board of Health re-elected Megan Dunn as chair at its first meeting of the year on Feb. 10, 2026, while choosing Janet Anderberg as vice chair. The board also welcomed its two newest members, Tim Abrahamson and Strom Peterson.

BOH_MeganDunn_2023_Headshot2“I’m honored to continue serving as Chair of the County’s Board of Health and grateful for the trust of my fellow board members,” said Snohomish County Councilmember Megan Dunn, one of two county council members appointed to serve on the board. “I’m especially grateful to the Health Department staff and leadership whose hard work protects and improves the well-being of everyone in Snohomish County.”

Each year, the Board of Health elects a chair and vice chair from its membership. The chair must be one of the two county councilmembers who have been appointed to the board.

“I’m proud that our public health systems support equitable health outcomes for everyone in our community,” Dunn added. “In the coming year, I look forward to strengthening partnerships, expanding access to health care, and supporting the department’s work to reach communities that have historically faced barriers to accessing public health services and programs.”

Dunn said those goals align with the department’s new strategic plan for 2025 to 2030.

The Board of Health brings together a diverse group of individuals who provide valuable perspectives from various positions and sectors. Through the authority granted by state statute, the board plays a central role in shaping public health policy for the county, and decisions made guide the work of health department staff within our communities. A single term on the Board lasts for four years and each individual is limited to a maximum of three terms.

The Snohomish County Board of Health is made up of nine members:

  • Two county council members
  • One elected official from a large or medium sized city
  • One elected official from a small city or town
  • One tribal representative nominated
  • One healthcare facility representative
  • One healthcare provider
  • Two additional community members, at least one of whom uses health services in the county
