For Providers

When patients test positive on the QFT, a chest x-ray (CXR) is the next step to rule out active disease.

If the CXR is normal and there are no signs or symptoms of active TB, then their provider can administer inactive TB treatment (also known as latent TB infection or LTBI).

If a patient has an abnormal CXR and/or symptoms of active TB, please call our office at 425-339-5225 to notify us of a possible active TB disease case and request further guidance.

Here are some quick links to WA Department of Health and other resources you may find useful regarding inactive TB and active TB:

We encourage the use of the term “inactive TB” instead of “latent TB” for ease of understanding amongst patients. If you have any questions while treating your patients, feel free to contact TB Project ECHO, a weekly video conference meeting for clinicians that offers support in treating patients with TB.

If you have further questions, feel free to call our TB Program at 425-339-5225.
