HAPPY SUMMER!

In this August edition of the Septic Scoop, we're excited to share financial assistance options available to septic system owners! The Savvy Septic Program is now offering additional rebates to homeowners for completing septic maintenance activities, along with grants for low-income homeowners who need a major septic system repair or replacement. We also have some summertime events and reminders to help you protect your system.

Rebates & Grants

Savvy Septic Rebates are available for various septic system maintenance activities! By taking our free, online Septic Care Workshop, you can earn rebates for the following:

  • $50 for riser installation (maximum of 2 risers)
  • $100 for system inspection
  • $100 for system pumping
  • $200 for minor repairs

To get a rebate, apply here.

All rebates are subject to the Savvy Septic Program Standards and are available on a first come, first served basis until funding is exhausted. Each type of rebate can be redeemed once every 12 months.

Savvy Septic system repair and replacement grants are available for low-income homeowners with failing septic systems.

Events

The Savvy Septic team will have a booth at the Evergreen State Fair on 8/27. If you’d like to stop by, we will be giving away sink strainers and shower strainers to help you protect your system.

Reminders

As summertime comes to a close, it’s a great time to take care of any septic maintenance you’ve been putting off. Schedule an inspection or pumping to keep your system running smoothly. If you’re not sure how often you should be maintaining your system, check out this page on septic maintenance frequencies. Keep your family and community healthy by maintaining your system!

Did you know?

While an outdoor firepit can be fun for summertime s’mores, if you build one be sure to keep it away from your drainfield. Some systems are not buried very deep, and a firepit can cause damage from heat and weight, and it can also prevent the soil from doing what it needs to do because it blocks sunlight and oxygen from the drainfield in that area.
