September 23rd, 2024
Hello oss contractors,
This September edition of our quarterly newsletter has a few reminders and resources for OSS professionals. If you’ve missed either of our last two newsletters, they can be found on our For Contractors webpage.
Review your contact information
If you are a pumper, installer, or M&M specialist, please review your email and phone number on our list of certified professionals. Bad phone numbers and emails have been reported, so please make sure your info is up to date. To update your contact information on this list, please email SHD-EHQ@snoco.org.
Savvy Septic Program Workshops
If you would like to learn more about the Health Department's Savvy Septic Program, you can watch a video presentation that covers what the program offers to homeowners, the role contractors have in relation to the program, and ways to participate. There is also a separate presentation for installers interested in working on Savvy Septic grant projects (the general workshop must be taken first). All workshops can be taken online, anytime.
Inspection and Pumping reports
Inspection and pumping reports are to be filed separately. For example, if a system was inspected and pumped, file both reports. This is because the pump report contains fields that the inspection report does not capture.
Reminder for riser lids
Some of you may be aware of the recent incident where a young child died after lifting the lid of a septic tank and falling in. Remember the importance of securing riser lids to help prevent tragic events such as this from happening.
Reporting Resources Coming Soon
We are in the process of creating resources to clarify reporting processes for contractors. If you or your office staff are interested in providing input on these materials, please contact Madison Lind at madison.lind@co.snohomish.wa.us.
Professional Development opportunity
The National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA) will be holding its annual Onsite Wastewater Mega Conference in Washington state this fall. The conference will be in Spokane from October 20th-23rd, and provides education and training for on-site wastewater professionals. For more information, visit the NOWRA conference webpage.
