[ARCHIVED] Snohomish Health District Data Walk

For much of 2018, the Snohomish Health District staff and community partners have been meeting as a task force to analyze more than 150 health indicators. This Community Health Assessment process culminates in a crucial report that identifies the top health threats impacting Snohomish County.

Earlier this week, more than 30 individuals joined us for the Snohomish Health District’s very first “data walk.” Community members were guided through a participatory data analysis process to review the eight key issues that emerged out of the 150+ health indicators. They explored related health disparities and potential root causes, and engaged in conversations about actions that would best address the top concerns.

This first data walk was thought-provoking and a key step to narrowing down the list of issues. We hope you can help us continue this important work by attending a data walk on December 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Monroe High School.

These data walks and your contributions are vital as we move forward into community health improvement planning in 2019. We expect these events to transform how we analyze and report on health issues in Snohomish County, as well as build collaborative capacity throughout the communities we serve.

Please feel free to forward this invitation to other community members with knowledge or expertise in the key areas we will explore:

  • Youth mental health
  • Suicide
  • Children’s dental health
  • Opioid misuse
  • Primary care provider access
  • Housing/Vacancy/Homelessness
  • American Indian/Alaskan Native disparities
  • Youth obesity

Thank you for your interest and participation. We look forward to valuable conversations as we work together to identify the top health priorities in our county.
