Media Advisory: COVID-19 response and coordination with long-term care facility

STANWOOD, Wash. – The Snohomish Health District is investigating a presumptive positive test for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) involving a resident of a Josephine Caring Community facility in Stanwood.

Snohomish Health District Interim Health Officer Dr. Chris Spitters and Josephine Caring Community CEO Terry Robertson have scheduled a press conference at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, March 10) in the atrium at the Health District, 3020 Rucker Ave., Everett.

“Our teams are investigating and we will be able to share more details tomorrow morning,” Dr. Spitters said.

The patient, a female in her 70s, had been a resident at the care center for an unrelated condition. The COVID-19 test result was obtained after she was taken to an area hospital.

Officials at Josephine Caring Community have been coordinating with public health officials to implement additional infection control measures. Meanwhile, all group activities and group dining for residents are suspended. Staff are also conducting checks for all patients at the facility every four hours.

The center also hosts a child care center. The child care center has put measures in place to keep the children separate from long-term care center residents.
