In 2006, Marysville became Snohomish County's pilot Healthy Communities site. Marysville has served as a model Healthy Community, winning the 2007 Human Services Council of Snohomish County Community Collaboration Award and participating in the YMCA Activate America: Pioneering Healthy Communities Conference in Washington DC as a model project. Building upon this momentum Marysville kicked-off implementation of their Action Plans in early 2008, and has made tremendous progress toward their goals.

Implementation teams are working in three areas:

1. Improving Access to Healthy Foods,  [pdf]
2. Increase the Number of Active Community Environments,  [pdf] and
3. Increasing Access to Low Cost or Free Recreational Opportunities.  [pdf]
