Health & Safety Assessments are voluntary reviews of a child care center or school-age program that provide constructive feedback
for the center directors. The assessment is very comprehensive and Child Care Health Program staff assess up to 64 different health
related areas of the center or School-Age program. The assessment report includes information about areas in which the center or program is excelling in
child care health and safety practices, as well as areas where additional education or consultation would be beneficial.
Benefits of a health & safety assessment include:
Assistance in planning staff training
Enhanced use of CCHP resources as self-assessment tools in reaching accreditation goals
Increased knowledge on how to provide a healthier, safer environment for children in care
Increased trust and recognition from parents due to high health and safety standards
Improved feedback on how the center is doing and what steps may lead to improvements in health and safety
Positive reinforcement for staff practices by giving a range of feedback rather than focusing on deficiencies
Reduction in children's illnesses and missed work days for staff and parents
Support in preparation for licensing or re-licensing visits
