Oral Health Program

Tooth decay is the most common infectious, chronic childhood disease. It is five times more common than asthma. Tooth decay affects more than just teeth; it hurts overall health and productivity, increases health care costs, and decreases overall quality of life. Nearly everyone experiences tooth decay by the time they are an adult. Tooth decay is preventable.

The Snohomish Health District's oral health program monitors oral health in Snohomish County, promotes healthy oral health behaviors, and provides tooth decay prevention programs.

Question

Finding Dental Care in Snohomish County

Smiling Girl Finding dental care is not always simple. It must be available, affordable, accessible, appropriate and acceptable for your needs. Ask your friends and neighbors for their recommendations. Don't forget to use the phone book to find dental offices near you, too!
  • Ask family, friends, neighbors or co-workers for recommendations.

  • Ask your family physician or local pharmacist.

  • If you're moving, your current dentist (or dental hygienist) may be able to make a recommendation.

  • Call or write your local or state dental society.
    • Snohomish County Dental Society 916 Nez Perce Drive. Mount Vernon, WA, 98273 Phone, 425.355-0519
    • Washington State Dental Association 1001 Fourth Avenue. Suite 3800. Seattle, WA, 98154, USA. Phone, 206.448-1914. Fax, 206.443-92669100, USA.

  • You may want to call or visit more than one dentist before making your decision, especially if you have a large amount of work to be done. Dental care is a very personalized service that requires a good relationship between the dentist and the patient.
