Do I Need a Permit?
The Snohomish Health District issues permits for solid waste disposal sites and handling facilities in
Snohomish County. The types of activities for which a solid waste permit is required are listed below:
Facilities that handle solid waste
Transfer stations
Baling and compaction systems
Drop boxes
Material recovery
Moderate risk waste
Disposal sites
Inert waste landfill
Limited purpose landfil
Mixed municipal solid waste landfill
Other facilities
Composting
Land application
Energy recovery and incinerators
Piles used for storage and treatment
Surface impoundments and tanks
