Tuberculosis Program
The goal of the Tuberculosis Control Program is to stop the spread of tuberculosis. Services we provide include the following:
  • Provide consultation to health care providers in the community
  • Diagnose and treat individuals who either have tuberculosis or are suspected of having the disease
  • Provide case management to people diagnosed with tuberculosis
  • Educate clients, family members and groups about tuberculosis
  • Treat clients who are newly infected with the bacteria that cause tuberculosis so they do not get sick with the disease
  • Conduct contact investigations to assure that people who have been exposed to tuberculosis are offered screening as appropriate
What is most important to know about the TB program?
  • Our services are confidential
  • Cost is not a barrier to care for the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis
  • Please call our office to make an appointment
  • The staff who serve our clients have expert knowledge and provide compassionate care
  • Interpreters are available on request at no charge to the client
What are the most common symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis?
  • Cough for over three weeks
  • Fever
  • Night sweats
  • Unintentional weight loss
  • Chest pain
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fatigue
  • Blood in the sputum
When should I contact the Snohomish Health District Tuberculosis Control Program?
  • If you are a health care provider and you have a client you suspect may have tuberculosis
  • If you have symptoms of tuberculosis
  • If you believe you have been exposed recently to a person with active tuberculosis
  • If you have a first time positive tuberculosis skin test (TST) and you would like to take medicine to prevent getting sick with the disease
  • If you have questions about tuberculosis
