Many businesses in Snohomish County use chemicals or other hazardous products and therefore generate hazardous waste. Hazardous waste can include waste from auto repair shops, dry cleaners, dental offices, veterinary offices, property management and many other industries. These hazardous wastes must be handled and disposed of properly to prevent contamination to our environment and injury to people.
Pollution Prevention Assistance
The Puget Sound Partnership was formed in 2007 to protect and restore Puget Sound and the surrounding watersheds. Through a grant with Department of Ecology, Snohomish Health District conducts technical assistance visits at no charge to small quanity generators, or businesses that generate less than 220 pounds of hazardous waste per month. During our visits we will survey your current business practices and provide you with information and technical assistance in the following areas:
- Stormwater management
- Hazardous waste management
- Spill prevention practices
We are available to provide follow-up support when implementing changes. Complex or large scale improvements may involve the assistance of other agencies.
If you have questions about our business assistance visits please contact the Safe Environments Program.
Business hazardous waste disposal
Small quantity generator businesses may dispose of their hazardous waste at the Snohomish County Hazardous Waste Drop-off Station for a fee and by appointment only.
