The Health Statistics & Assessment Program uses data and scientific methods to understand the
health issues in our county. Individuals, agencies, and organizations use our data to identify
community needs, develop and plan programs, and measure program effectiveness. This office also
provides birth and death certificates.

Health Data are collected, analyzed, and disseminated to describe our population and to identify trends and changes in health outcomes and related behaviors. These data are disseminated via reports, publications, a newsletter, and in data tables and graphs available on our website.

Birth certificates are available for births occurring statewide from 1921 to the present. They are needed for school and sports registration, travel outside of the U.S., and security clearance when applying for a job, etc.

Death certificates are available for deaths occurring in Snohomish County only from 1960 to the present. They are needed for estate settlements, liquidating stocks, bonds and insurance policies, transferring titles on vehicles and real estate, and notifying Social Security and retirement plans when a death has occurred.
