Youth & Group Camp Safety
The Camp Program works to ensure a safe recreational environment for group and
youth camps. Routine inspections are conducted during the camps operating season to
assure that kitchens, swimming equipment, housing facilities and bathing facilities
meet minimum safety requirements. For general questions regarding group and youth

Group and Youth Camp Inspections
Routine inspections are conducted at group and youth camps to help assure the camp
meets minimum requirements. This will help keeping illness out of a camp which is the best way to ensure that the
campers stay healthy. The inspections make sure that the food and water are handled
properly and coming from a safe approved source. Additionally these inspections assure
that adequate hand washing facilities are provided in all areas of the camp.
Constructing, Altering or Remodeling a Group or Youth Camp
Before a new group or youth camp is constructed, or an existing camp facility is changed,
the a review of the camp plans is required. Before construction for an alteration or remodel of an existing camp, plans must be
submitted with a plan review fee.
Complaints
The Snohomish Health District a conducts investigations of unsanitary and unsafe
operating conditions at group and youth camps resulting from public complaints.
