The Refugee Health Program is housed within the TB Control Program and is responsible
for the state-side screening of newly arrived foreign-born refugees immigrating to
Snohomish County.
Services provided through refugee screening:
- Basic health screening interview
- Screening for Tuberculosis, anemia, blood pressure
- Immunizations
- Referrals for other health conditions
Who is eligible?
Newly arrived refugees, asylees, or immigrants who have arrived in the United States
from a country where TB is common.
What to bring to make your first appointment:
- Medical examination information of refugee applicant
- Chest X-ray done during Visa medical
- Immunization records
- Refugee applicant’s passport
- I-94 card
- Medicaid coupon if available
What happens at the screening appointments?
At the first appointment
- Interview
- Skin test placed
- Finger stick for anemia
- Blood drawn if needed
- Immunization records reviewed
At the second visit (three days later)
- Questions answered
- Skin test read
- Vaccinations provided
- Referral for a chest X-ray if needed
Referrals to community health care providers as needed
