MASS TESTING SITE OPENING THIS WEEKEND IN MONROE

NEW SITE WILL OPERATE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK

The new testing site in Snohomish County will be opening this weekend at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. The site is being done in partnership with the Snohomish Health District, Washington State Department of Health (DOH), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"Testing is a critical part of preventing the spread of COVID-19 and we are thrilled to see this partnership come together to support people who need tests in the Snohomish County area," said Secretary of Health Dr. Umair A. Shah.

The site will open on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with ongoing operations from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week. Appointments are now available through Jan. 25, with additional days to be added on a rolling basis. Registration is strongly encouraged and can be done online at
 www.ineedacovid19test.com and clicking on Washington.

“This site will be able to do 1,000 tests per day, which brings much needed capacity for our community,” said Dr. Chris Spitters, Health Officer for the Snohomish Health District. “We know this will help ease the crunch being felt by people in need who have been having a hard time finding testing during the omicron surge.”

For Snohomish County residents with limited or no internet access, the Health District’s call center at 425-339-5278 is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays (closed weekends and holidays). Staff can help people register for testing appointments if any are available. If testing is full, additional testing resources are listed at

At-Home Test Resources

Free at-home COVID-19 tests are being made available to the general public by the Washington State Department of Health and the U.S. Government. Tests can be found at the following websites for free home delivery, tests are based on availability:
  • Washington DOH mail tests: State launches at-home rapid COVID-19 test portal > Washington State Department of Health
  •  Home - Say Yes! To Covid Test (sayyescovidhometest.org)
  • United States Government:  https://www.covidtests.gov
The use of at-home tests can be useful for screening purposes, any positive at home tests in child care should be reported to Snohomish Health District at 425-252-5415.

Negative test results required for return to care for children or staff may come from school testing programs, a health care provider, local health jurisdiction, pharmacy, or other community-based test site. At this time at-home tests should not be used for return to care after illness or for shortened quarantine periods. The use of at-home tests should be considered in coordination with local public health. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test includes the original, a copy, or a photo of a document or other communication from the test provider or laboratory that shows:
  • The first and last names of the individual tested
  • The type of test performed (must be molecular or antigen).
  • The date the specimen was collected (must be on or after 5 days post exposure).
  • A negative test result.
