Trainings for Child Care Workers

For general child care information and resources, please visit our Child Care Health webpage, click here.

We provide distance learning classes for Snohomish County child care workers on a variety of disease and illness prevention topics. Child care workers are required to take trainings that are approved through the State Training and Registry System (STARS).

Our STARS-approved classes are offered at no cost. Each class is designed to take about 2 hours to complete unless otherwise noted. For a printable list of classes, click here.

On the first of each month, the current distance learning class(es) are available to download directly from this webpage. (See below.) Download all of the materials listed for the course you wish to take. You will then have until the end of the month to complete and return the test and evaluation (either via email or U.S. mail). You will receive a confirmation email letting you know that your test has been received. Tests must be received by midnight on the last day of the month. Late tests cannot be accepted. Once the test has been reviewed, you will receive an email with your score and a certificate for a passing grade. Your MERIT credit will be posted the following month. Further detailed instructions will be included with the course materials.

No registration is necessary!

Due to staffing and time constraints, tests will be processed for child care staff who either live or work in Snohomish County only.

While you are allowed to repeat classes that you previously took, we strongly discourage repeating a class within a 3-year period. Instead, we encourage child care providers to take a variety of classes.
