West Nile Virus detected in Snohomish bird

Health District reports first infected bird found in western Washington

SNOHOMISH COUNTY --- A dead crow found in Snohomish County has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), according to local health officials. The bird was collected near the town of Snohomish and brought to Snohomish Health District Oct. 7. High-risk? Get a jump on the ’flu starting Oct. 14

Health District clinics help you stay healthy

SNOHOMISH COUNTY--- Snohomish Health District will offer flu immunizations at its two clinics beginning Oct. 14. “We ask that ‘high-risk’ people come in for vaccinations early in the fall,” said M. Ward Hinds, MD, MPH, health officer for Snohomish County. “The manufacturer distributes vaccine by allotment from October to December, and we want to use our initial allotment for the people who are most likely at risk of complications,” said Dr. Hinds.

Most local retailers snuff tobacco sales to minors

86% of Snohomish County stores make a healthy choice

SNOHOMISH COUNTY --- The good news is that 86% of retail stores in Snohomish County refuse to sell tobacco products to minors, according to public health officials. So far in 2002, random checks of 64 stores showed that most clerks ask youth for proof of age. Read More >>
