Prevent rabies during bat season with safety tips & vaccine

Stay on the safe side of bats—bat-proof your home and cabin, vaccinate your pets

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. --- Every summer Snohomish Health District takes dozens of calls about bats and how to stay healthy around them. Bats are the primary carriers of rabies in the Pacific Northwest, and are found in almost every county in Washington. Rabies causes a rare but often fatal illness in humans, and in wild and domestic animals. Rabies is transmitted through the saliva of the animal, which can be introduced through a bite or scratch.

Drugstores help fight the whooping cough epidemic in Snohomish County

Snohomish Health District teams up with 21 local pharmacies

NOTE: This update of the June 19 release adds Pharm-A-Save Pharmacy in Monroe.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Twenty-one local drugstores have joined the fight to knock down the whooping cough epidemic in Snohomish County. The Snohomish Health District supplies the pharmacies with free vaccine from the Sanofi Pasteur AmeriCares patient assistance program for uninsured, low-income adults.

Expanded HIV testing in Everett, June 25-30
