Sept. 24, 2015 - SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. Research shows that adverse childhood experiences—ACEs for short—are strong predictors of health and social issues later in life. Whether it’s going through parents’ divorcing, witnessing violence, being abused, living in extreme poverty or being homeless, or having a parent or close family member with a mental illness or addiction, these experiences can take a deep emotional toll on our children.

Share Your Thoughts on Vaping in Public Places

Health District Offers Multiple Ways to Share Opinions in July

July 6, 2015 - SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – A preliminary comment period has officially opened for county residents to provide input on a potential new policy that would prohibit vaping in public places. E-cigarettes and vaping products are not regulated the same way cigarettes are. This leads to public health concerns about potential exposure to the unknown mixture of chemicals in the vapor, as well as the rise in teens and young adults using a new type of addictive nicotine product.

Service changes at the Health District

Adjustments pave way for more public health opportunities long-term

July 2, 2015 - SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. Looking at client feedback and usage rates, as well as a variety of changes in the community, the Snohomish Health District has started making adjustments to current operations. As of July 1, the immunization and travel services clinics are now closed permanently. Starting on Monday, the Women-Infant-Children (WIC) and First Steps clinics will have new hours of service.
