Food and Environmental Related Fees to Increase April 1

Health District’s First Increase Since 2012

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – As approved by the Snohomish County Board of Health in the 2016 budget, all environmental health related fees will see a 4.6 percent increase effective April 1, 2016. This includes a 1.6 percent increase based upon consumer price index (CPI), plus a new 3 percent technology fee to offset the investment in technology upgrades in progress. The services provided by the Environmental Health Division strive to be full cost recovery.

Board of Health Seeks Feedback on Countywide Medicine Take-Back Policy

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Unused prescription and over-the-counter medicines pose a risk to our families, communities and the environment. To prevent misuse, medicines need to be stored safely in the home, and properly disposed when no longer needed. Throwing medicines away or flushing them down the toilet are not safe or appropriate disposal practices. Medicine take-back programs are part of a comprehensive approach to preventing prescription drug abuse, as well as a secure and environmentally sound way to dispose of leftover or expired medicines.

Board of Health Meeting, March 15

Policy Options for Pharmaceutical Stewardships; Transition Plans for WIC and First Steps to be Focus

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. During its regular board meeting, the Board of Health will hear a briefing from the Pharmaceutical Stewardship Ad Hoc Committee, followed by an expanded work session to discuss how WIC and First Steps services will be provided in Snohomish County in 2017 and beyond. The meeting will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. The meeting will be held in the District’s Auditorium located at 3020 Rucker Ave, Everett, Wash.
