Drugstores help fight the whooping cough epidemic in Snohomish County

Snohomish Health District teams up with 21 local pharmacies

NOTE: This update of the June 19 release adds Pharm-A-Save Pharmacy in Monroe.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Twenty-one local drugstores have joined the fight to knock down the whooping cough epidemic in Snohomish County. The Snohomish Health District supplies the pharmacies with free vaccine from the Sanofi Pasteur AmeriCares patient assistance program for uninsured, low-income adults.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash.Drowning kills about 8 Snohomish County residents every year. Nationally, more than one in four drowning deaths is a child younger than 15. Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States and kills more toddlers 1 to 4 years old than anything but birth defects.
