Reports of 57 Opioid Overdoses Within Seven Days in Snohomish County

First-ever coordinated data gathering yields important insights

The Snohomish Health District—in partnership with the Snohomish County Opioid Response Multi-Agency Coordination (MAC) Group—completed a second 7-day point-in-time data collection for opioid overdoses from July 9-15, 2018. The result: 57 overdoses in one week, 2 of which were fatal.

Team joining leadership cohort represented by 20 health agencies nationwide

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Two team members from the Snohomish Health District have been selected to be part of the third cohort of The Kresge Foundation’s Emerging Leaders in Public Health initiative. Administrator Jefferson Ketchel and health policy analyst Nicole Thomsen will be working together to help transform the role of public health in Snohomish County and the region.

Additional confirmed measles cases in Snohomish County

Four new confirmed cases within the same household

As previously reported July 7, a minor that was part of a large group visiting multiple states in the U.S. for a summer program was confirmed with measles. The Snohomish Health District’s Communicable Disease and Surveillance team has been monitoring the health status of other individuals in the family who were exposed and were considered non-immune. One adult and three minors in the household developed fevers and rashes, and have now been confirmed with measles.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Local public health officials have confirmed a measles infection in a member of a large group of foreign minors visiting multiple states in the U.S. as a part of a summer program. The Snohomish Health District’s Communicable Disease and Surveillance team is also monitoring the health status of other individuals in the family who were exposed and are considered non-immune.
