Special Board of Health Meeting, March 20

Board to appoint interim administrator and hear Health Officer’s farewell address

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – The Board of Health will convene on a special day and time for the purpose of appointing an Interim Administrator for the Snohomish Health District and to conduct regular Board of Health business as set forth on the agenda below. The meeting will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, held in the District’s Auditorium located at 3020 Rucker Ave, Everett, Wash.

Deputy Director Pete Mayer informed the Board of Health of his resignation at the regular board meeting on Tuesday, March 14. Following his last day on April 7, Mayer will return to his parks roots to join Metro Parks Tacoma as their new Assistant Executive Director. In this new role, he will head the Governance and Direction department with direct oversight of the Offices of Finance & Budget, Strategy & Innovation, Communications & Public Information, and Marketing & Development.

“The Health District is seen as a key player regionally and statewide, thanks in large part to Pete Mayer’s leadership, and we wish him the best in his new adventure,” said Adrienne Fraley-Monillas, current chair of the Board of Health. “The Board is committed to doing our part to work towards a strong and thriving District, and we recognized the need for quick action to ensure continued agency leadership.”

The Board also authorized a contract extension for Dr. Gary Goldbaum to remain as the health officer on a limited basis for up to 60 days. While originally scheduled to retire on April 1, a replacement for Dr. Goldbaum has not yet been identified. Dr. Goldbaum will give his farewell address to the Board, highlighting achievements and observations from his 10 years of service at the Health District.
