Board of Health Meeting, Dec. 13

Amendment to District’s Charter and Adoption of 2017 Budget to be Focus

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – During its regular board meeting, the Board of Health is expected to take action on the 2017 budget and a proposed amendment to the Snohomish Health District’s charter. The meeting will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016. The meeting will be held in the District’s Auditorium located at 3020 Rucker Ave, Everett, Wash.

In response to the upcoming retirement of Dr. Gary Goldbaum as health officer and director of the District as of March 31, 2017, the Board will be discussing a charter amendment (see attached). If approved, the amendment would separate the health officer and administrator functions into two distinct positions. Recruitment of a new health officer is expected to begin soon.

In addition to swearing in newly elected County Councilmember Sam Low as he returns to the Board of Health, and recognition of outgoing Board member Ken Klein, the Board is expected to adopt the 2017 budget. The Snohomish Health District’s proposed 2017 budget will be available online at www.snohd.org/Budget-Financial on Thursday, Dec. 8.
