Age 50-plus? Roll up your sleeve!

Flu vaccine now available from Snohomish Health District

(Everett, WA) --- Snohomish Health District now has sufficient influenza vaccine to offer shots to healthy persons age 50-pl us, international travelers and travelers on cruise ships. Until now, a shortage of vaccine limited the shots to the county’s elderly and high-risk residents.

"Expanding our service to people age 50 and older certainly is an improvement," said M. Ward Hinds, MD, MPH, Health Officer for Snohomish Health District. "But the vaccine supply is still unpredictable, and we can’t offer flu shots to the general public yet. We hope the supply picture continues to get better." Dr. Hinds noted that the health district has received 65 percent of its vaccine order.

The Health District begins its expanded vaccination policy this Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Valley General Hospital Health Fair in Monroe. Health Fair hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital at 14701 179 Ave. SE.

Flu shots are available at the Snohomish Health District Main Clinic by appointment on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday by appointment from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and wa lk-in from 1-5:30 p.m. The Main Clinic address is 3020 Rucker Ave., Everett. Call (425) 339-5220 to make appointments.

The District also operates a clinic in Lynnwood, at 6101 200 St, SW, Suite 100. The clinic offers flu vaccinations by appointment from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday; by appointment from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and walk-in from 1-5:30 p.m. Call (425) 775-3522 to schedule an appointment.
