Food Managers

Training

The Snohomish Health District offers manager training to ensure that our community stays healthy by keeping all food establishments up to date with the ever-changing food environment and sanitation regulations.

State food regulations require that at least one designated person in charge (PIC), a manager, supervisor, or shift leader, be present during all hours of operation for food establishments. The PIC must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the food code and safety principles.

We offer a state-approved Manager Certification class. This certification meets the PIC demonstration of knowledge requirement. A manager recertification class is also offered. Our classes help ensure compliance with food safety critical items and best practices.

Topics

Topics covered include:

  • When to exclude sick food workers
  • Proper cooking, hot-holding, cold-holding, and cooling of potentially hazardous foods
  • Preventing cross-contamination
  • Personal hygiene and equipment sanitation practices
